Intensive Italian Coaching Masterclasses
One-day sessions in small groups to develop confidence and skills in Italian repertoire – singers may bring any Italian aria or song.
Advanced and Professional levels
Through vocalising and one-to-one coaching sessions, singers will learn tools and techniques to create more expression, better phrasing and a more authentic Italian sound. The day includes an overview of the Melofonetica Method, vocalising, guided listening, tailored one-to-one coaching and a Q&A session.
Coach: Matteo Dalle Fratte
Suitable for: Advanced and professional level singers who already have experience of performing Italian repertoire, or singers who have already gained a good understanding of the Melofonetica Method and are ready to work at a more advanced level. Also open to pianists and observers. Singers can bring any one piece of Italian repertoire (from 16th to 20th century) with any level of tessitura (vocal range) and coloratura (ornamentation).

Improvers / all levels
An opportunity to get a good basic understanding or refresher of the fundamentals of correct Italian diction using the Melofonetica Method and benefit from one-to-one coaching in any piece of Italian repertoire. The day includes an overview of the Melofonetica Method, vocalising, guided listening, tailored one-to-one coaching for singers and a Q&A session.
Coach: Matteo Dalle Fratte
Suitable for: All singers who have some experience of studying Italian repertoire but are new to the Melofonetica Method, or singers who have some knowledge of the method but would like a refresher of the fundamentals. Also open to pianists and observers. Singers can bring any one piece of Italian repertoire (from 16th to 20th century), preferably with easy to medium tessitura (vocal range) and coloratura (ornamentation).

The Art of Italian Recitative
A weekend workshop to improve diction, phrasing and expression in opera scenes.
These workshops are designed to develop skills and confidence in Italian recitative. They include an overview of Italian metrics, one-to-one coaching sessions and the preparation and performance of well-known recitative opera scenes by composers such as Mozart and Handel. Singers will gain a better understanding of the structure of Italian recitative, improve articulation, phrasing and expression, and feel better equipped to perform Italian recitative in scenes.
Coaches: Matteo Dalle Fratte and Peter Ford
Suitable for: Advanced and professional level singers who already have experience of performing Italian repertoire, or singers who have already gained a good understanding of the Melofonetica Method and are ready to work at a more advanced level. Also open to pianists and observers. Singers can bring any one piece of Italian recitative for one-to-one coaching, either secco or accompagnato, and will also be sent recitative opera scenes to prepare in advance.
